Ask the Egg

Life questions? Concerns? Anxieties? All of us struggle at times to find answers; and with our busy, responsibility-filled lives, it can be difficult to focus. In my years of practicing meditation, the most important thing I have learned is to let the answers come....once the question has been asked, it is only a matter of time before the understanding emerges. "Ask the Egg" is a tool for releasing the question so that the process can begin. The egg is a self- contained source of life, and to symbolically engage it, to go within it, speaks to a desire for the highest wisdom. So ask the egg....and let wisdom be born.— BNR

The Egg Says: "Though The Egg is not a crystal ball, it can see some truths: that there is no time, and all that will occur has already occurred. The legal situation to which you refer is complete.....it has already happened. You may be able to dig deep within yourself and find the answer you seek. Know that the only time is 'now'. The best thing to do in all situations in which we are fearful for the result, is hold your intention for the highest outcome, that which will be for the good of all involved. Trust that a higher order of process is at work."

“When will there be completion of a legal situation?”

The Egg Says: Perhaps you are looking for and longing for something that doesn't even exist. Life is volatile; there are good days and bad days, and no life will ever be completely serene every moment. The trick is to not identify with that. "You" are not your thoughts...you are not your emotions. You are that which witnesses both of those things...'be' the witness, and you just might find the stability you are looking for.

“UP and down and up and down....some days I feel I have it all together, and the next day I am a blithering mess...yelling at my kids, unable to cope with small upsets. Why can't I stay on an even keel? Why am I always on an emotional roller coaster?”

The Egg Says: Realize that your life can be a meditation. Meditation is not so much a thing you do as it is a state of mind...bringing awareness to each moment is meditation. Gentle self-reminders to 'pay attention now' as you are driving your kids to soccer practice or helping with homework can lead you into a few priceless moments of pure being. It is a misconception to think you must go off and 'sit' in order to meditate...you can do it any time and anywhere!

“I'm all for meditation, but what do you recommend for a busy mother of 3?”

— Asked by Jennifer Smith

The Egg Says: In order not to pollute the environment and others in it with our own stress, we must address it at the source: within ourselves. Stress is never caused by something 'out there', but by our reaction to it. Pay attention to the thoughts that accompany the stressful feelings...is there a way to shift those thoughts so that the stress is relieved? Your children, little sponges that they are, will pick up on stress that you might not think you are even 'showing'. Go deeper...explore the source: your own thoughts.

“Can I stop from passing my stress on to my children?”
